Homeschooling a high-energy child is hard. Tips to make it easier.

Writer's picture: Marea ParsonMarea Parson

It's taken a long time to see all the hard work start to pay off.

But watching my high-energy son in his element, leading a group of young boys as they build a fire made me so proud.

Proud of him & proud of myself. It's been a long road.

And the true journey is just beginning.

Now that he is becoming more confident with leading others, it is my job to help him learn how to point them to the Great Teacher.

Here's 3 ways to make homeschooling a high energy child easier:

1. Think of their energy as a gift not a struggle. He has been called to do great things which will require much energy.

2. Re-direct energy towards positive activities and passions. It's ok to get up an move. Often.

3. Give them control over their schedule and responsibilities. Let them make mistakes & learn from them.

Bonus tip: Use affirming & encouraging words often.
